America's Run for the Fallen
America’s Run for the Fallen is concluded but the mission carries forward!
On Flag Day, June 14, 2008, a dedicated team of runners participated in the first Run for the Fallen and ran 4100 miles across America from Fort Irwin, CA to Arlington National Cemetery, one mile for every Soldier, Sailor, Airmen, and Marine killed since the War on Terror began. In 2018 on its tenth anniversary Honor and Remember expanded the initial run by creating America’s Run for the Fallen, the most comprehensive fallen veteran tribute to date. April 7th – August 5th, covering 6,000 miles over 120 days through 19 states and calling out loud the names of over 20,000 service members.
Each year since the first run across America, runners from around the world have joined Run for the Fallen in remembering our fallen. Over 50,000+ participants and over 200,000+ miles have been collectively run in remembrance of those heroes, organized in over 26 states. But there is much more to be developed. We need your help to achieve comprehensive remembrance in all 50 states.
Even though the run across the country has concluded, you can support this cause now by participating virtually. Simply register here and then run or walk 1 mile, 5k, 10k, or a Half Marathon whenever and wherever you want. As a thank you for your support, we will mail you an official America’s Run for the Fallen race shirt and finisher medal. Shirts and medals will be mailed when you register (not after you submit your results), in case you’d like to wear the shirt for your run to help spread awareness for this amazing tribute that will take place in 2018.
The mission of Honor and Remember is to perpetually recognize the sacrifice of America’s military fallen heroes and their families. The organization pays tribute to all military lives lost, not only while serving on active duty but also as a result of serving. Military deaths in all wars or conflicts and all branches of service from our nation’s inception are recognized.
One of the primary vehicles for perpetual recognition is the Run for the Fallen Initiatives. These yearly statewide events enable hundreds to participate in an apolitical expression of appreciation, running consecutive miles and calling aloud every local hero name. The year 2018 marks their 10th anniversary and enables a once in a lifetime opportunity with a unique tribute, calling out loud the name of every fallen service member since October 12, 2000. Each mile recognizing the sacrifice of individual heroes and their families during the nationwide America’s Run for the Fallen. Visit RunForTheFallen.org to locate any hero’s name and place of tribute.
Virtual Strides Partner Event: This event is part of the Virtual Strides Partners Program. Honor and Remember will receive 100% of the net proceeds from this event after Virtual Strides’ partner costs are deducted.
